About this event

Announcing the 2023 ASSA Annual Dinner and Awards Night! Please join fellow members, their families and friends for dinner, drinks and the Annual ASSA Awards at the new date 7:00pm Saturday 23 September at the Glenelg Golf Club. All members and friends are invited to attend this annual event to celebrate another successful year.

The evening will feature:

  • Video exhibition of imaging work over the past year, including the 80+ amazing images entered in the 2023 ASSA Astrophotography Awards.
  • A three course dinner with a choice of entrees, main courses & desserts followed by coffee & chocolates.
  • Announcement of the winners of the various Astrophotography Awards and the Craig Richardson Memorial Award.
  • Presentation of the annual ASSA awards to acknowledge the outstanding contributions of individuals.
  • Raffles and door prizes.

Cost: $76 per person.

How to book: Bookings are essential as places are limited. Bookings open on August 1st and close on 30th August. Tickets can be booked and paid online through Eventbrite.

The ASSA Award Categories:

Bill Bradfield Astronomy Award: The Society’s most prestigious award is in recognition of members of the Society who have contributed to Astronomy either by astronomical discovery, research or observational astronomy over an extended period of time.

Annual Service Awards: In recognition of members who have made notable contributions to the Society over several years up to and including the current membership year.

Craig Richardson Memorial Award: For images of aurora, foreground scapes and the night sky backgrounds (includes a cash prize donated by the Richardson Family).

Astrophotography Awards: The entries voted best in the following categories will each receive an award: Deep-Sky, Solar System, Nightscape, and Timelapse video. Additional awards will be given to qualifying entries for Junior Astrophotography and the Overall Best Astrophotography Award.

Editor's Award: For best original article published in The Bulletin, as chosen by the Editor.
